Recycle = Energy
Aluminum cans are the most widely recycled consumer container in the world. That’s good news considering it takes a lot of energy to make aluminum. Just think about how much it costs to keep electricity in your home or fill up the gas tank of your car.
Now consider that throwing away one aluminum can wastes as much energy as pouring out half a can of gasoline! Speaking of energy, recycling one can saves enough energy to keep a 100-watt bulb burning almost four hours or provide enough power to a television for three hours. Now that’s POWER!
Many Lives of a Can
If aluminum cans are not recycled they are taken to a landfill where it takes between 100-500 years for just one aluminum can to decompose. Compare that amount of time to LESS THAN 60 DAYS FOR AN ALUMINUM CAN TO BE RECYCLED and back on the grocery shelf to use again.
And get this, there is no limit to the amount of times an aluminum can can be recycled. You can help an aluminum can live forever just by recycling!
Recycling Makes “Cents”
Every minute of every day, an average of more than 127,000 aluminum cans are recycled. That’s an average of two out of three cans that are being recycled right now!
Americans alone use 200 million aluminum beverage cans everyday while each person uses about 392 cans per year. Did you know that AN EMPTY ALUMINUM CAN IS WORTH ABOUT TWO CENTS? Multiple 392 cans by two cents and that’s a lot of money that could be saved in your piggy bank! SO WHY NOT RECYCLE!
