Accounting Supervisor

This role provides oversight for the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, executes the accounting for customer contracts, manages relationships with third-party accounting and tax consultants and provides support to the Controller. 

Position Requirements:

  • BA/BS required in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) a plus.
  • 3 - 5 years within accounting or related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Oracle/Noetix reporting software preferred. 
  • Clear and concise communications. Detail oriented.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise one billing specialist, one accounts receivable specialist, and one accounts payable clerk;  
  • Supervision includes administrative responsibilities such as approval of time cards and vacation,  development and accountability for annual goals, creating and managing developmental opportunities for direct reports and conducting performance reviews;
  • Work with multiple departments to support resolution of pricing, cash applications, and claims issues;
  • Oversee process improvements in the accounts receivable and accounts payable areas;
  • Execute the accounting for customer contracts including entries related to signing bonuses, various rebates, and settlement of provisional versus actual pricing;
  • Provide accounting and tax consultants with the data needed for preparation of income tax returns, property tax returns and estimated tax payments;
  • Calculate and book monthly income tax provisions;
  • Resolve miscellaneous state tax notices;
  • Accountability for coding and entry of various monthly journal entries;
  • Assist Controller in researching proper GAAP treatment of business transactions;
  • Serve as backup for Controller in certain month-end closing responsibilities; and
  • Acquire in-depth understanding of the organization and the experience of colleagues in each of the areas of responsibility.

Physical Factors:

  • Occasionally lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Bends, stoops or crouches on a regular basis.
  • May sit for several hours at a time.

Working Environment:

  • Corporate office setting.
  • Work may be required outside standard business hours.
